Listed Building Consent

If you own a property which is listed on the National Heritage List for England (NHLE), or a building which is listed locally by your Local Authority, any alteration or development within any of the curtilage will require planning and listed building consent.


The Listing of properties in England Grades:


  • Grade 1: The highest grade awarded to heritage assets


  • Grade 2*: Second highest listing for heritage assets


  • Grade 2: Third highest listing for heritage assets, and most common.

Your Application will be received by the Local Planning Authority (LPA) and registered where it meets their minimum validation requirements.


Dependent on your location and Local Planning Authority (LPA), you may be required to submit additional supporting material such as (but not limited to):


  • Flood Risk Assessment;

  • Planning Statement;

  • Design & Access Statement;

  • Heritage Statement;

  • Arboricultural Tree Survey;

  • Preliminary Ecological Appraisal
